With increasing affluence, in addition to increasing warming due to climate change, cooling demand for comfort, food security and health will see an exponential increase. Simultaneously, the cooling industry will undergo refrigerant transition from HCFC and HFC to emerging alternatives. This brief examines the current landscape for cooling in terms of available technologies, refrigerant usage and energy.
