The Nehru Place District Centre in New Delhi was developed by the Delhi Development Authority in the early 1960s. Over the years, the centre has grown rapidly in size and function, and now sees footfalls from other parts of Delhi and beyond. The centre now faces issues like increased use of private vehicles despite being well connected by public transport systems, increased marginalisation of non-motorised transport users, bad parking management and dilapidated infrastructure. Shakti facilitated the development of design strategies for place-making and improved accessibility and mobility for the center and its adjoining streets. This report documents the existing conditions of the centre and the proposed strategies.
