Shakti commissioned the design and implementation of India's first ever market-based demand response (DR) pilot with the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited in Rajasthan, in collaboration with the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX). The pilot targeted 17 industrial consumers in Jaipur and gave them incentives to curtail their load during peak times. The discom, during times of need, invited megawatt bids from consumers to which consumers responded with their MW and price bids through the exchange platform. Four DR events were implemented and led to an average curtailment of 23 MW.
