Based on the first-of-its-kind national ESCO survey, a study supported by Shakti has estimated the size of India’s ESCO market to be between INR 93,000 - 120,000 crores for commercial buildings, agriculture pumping, municipal pumping, street lighting and industries. To realize this potential, the study proposes the following:

• Development of a nation-wide energy efficiency data repository with benchmarks
• Development of a technology-enabled energy efficiency collaboration and marketplace platform
• Creation of standardized solutions to build trust and enable scale in the market
• Modification of the existing ESCO accreditation process to enhance confidence and credibility
• Development of a neutral ESCO market enablement entity for awareness and facilitation
