Dialogue on Net Zero Pathways for India

Several nations and companies have committed to reaching net-zero emissions, many of them by mid-century. This has led to a debate in India on our options. While India is yet to make an official announcement, several questions are being raised about the feasibility and desirability of a net-zero pathway for the country. Should India announce a net zero commitment and by what timeframe? Will it compromise India’s developmental aspirations? How will investments in clean energy lead to more jobs and economic development?

In this backdrop, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation is convening a dialogue series to explore pathways for India’s net-zero ambitions. The Dialogue on Net-Zero Pathways is  a series of curated webinars featuring specific themes related to long-term decarbonization pathways as well as their technology, finance and societal implications.

The Dialogues, by drawing on practical experiences of leading policy makers, CSOs, think tanks and industry experts,  seek to facilitate engagement and knowledge sharing in order to identify the way forward for a net-zero emissions energy system for India.
