Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation : Strategic Work Plan
The global energy sector has shifted a great deal over the last decade, particularly in terms of efforts to tackle climate change. The number of net‐zero emissions pledges by countries clearly speak to the increasing urgency around clean energy transitions.
A greatly encouraging development in India is the growth and expansion of the renewable energy sector, which is acting as a catalyst for low-carbon growth. Climate ambition in India has steadily increased with supportive policies across sectors.
As Shakti ventures into its next decade of service, our mission is as critical as ever: to make a difference in the clean energy and climate action scenario in India.
In 2020, we saw Covid-19 bringing about unprecedented disruptions to our societies, economies and energy systems.
We at Shakti have also confronted a starkly different regulatory system, which led us to change our way of working in order to respond to urgent challenges and opportunities with a new perspective and zeal.
The result is our new annual workplan 2022, which we are pleased to share with you. It describes the transformation that Shakti is making, rooted in our decade long existence of trust and credibility, and focused on the future and the role that Shakti will play going forward. We highlight our ongoing thematic priorities such as Decarbonization, Air Quality and Energy Access, and new areas such as Just Transition, Climate Resilience and Cities and Climate Action. We also present our approach to create more impactful interventions.
We are deeply grateful to you—our diverse grantee partners, and to our Board and donors, who make our important work possible.
We hope our new workplan 2022 gives you a clear understanding of our road ahead and helps identify areas of alignment. We shall continue to strive to be more transparent, to contribute to the ecosystem level agenda and foster a better relationship with you.
