Achieving Net-Zero Emissions Pathways

The global debate on combating climate change is in a decisive phase. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states that global CO2 emissions should reach net zero by 2050 to have a reasonable probability of limiting global warming to 1.5 degree Celsius. Considering the magnitude of the challenge involved, this decade requires decisive action. Many countries have announced their ambition of a net zero year, i.e., the year they will achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This obviously turns the focus on India and other developing countries.

As the world’s third largest emitter and a country highly vulnerable to climate risks, India needs to take bold climate action. Keeping India’s net-zero ambitions in perspectives, this kick-off webinar features opening remarks by Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Sherpa to the Prime Minister, G7 and G20 followed by a panel discussion of leading experts around the most suitable climate change scenario pathways for India.
